We are about 3 months away from the first race of 2017 and a lot of changes have taken place in
NW Iowa and SW Minnesota. Jackson Speedway will just be racing just on Friday nights this year
and have dropped the IMCA Stock car class. Fairmont Raceway has moved to Saturday nights.
Clay County Fair Speedway has not found a promoter yet, so they may not be racing in 2017.
Badlands Speedway in Brandon, SD is for sale and it looks like they won’t be opening this year.
And finally, Nobles County Speedway has moved from Tuesday night, IMCA racing to a Saturday
night USRA program. With all those changes, there remains one constant. Rapid Speedway in
Rock Rapids is staying USRA on Friday nights.
Our 2017 plans are to race weekly at Rapid Speedway and Nobles County Speedway. We’ll also
run some special events at Sioux Speedway and some local USRA Iron Man touring races when
they are in the area. We’ll also be making our 2nd appearance at the USRA Nationals in October.
This years’ event has been moved to the I-35 Speedway in Winston, MO.
We’ll have one car strictly devoted to USRA racing and a backup car. We are in the process of
making a couple of upgrade and some changes to the USRA rule package for 2017. We are
waiting on the 2017 USRA Iron Man series schedule to be released, so as of now our season that
will likely begin at Rapid Speedway on April 27th.
We’d like to thank Cooperative Energy of Sibley, Jack Rabbit Junction of Sibley, Cenex, Precision
Planting by Bousema Farms Inc. of Worthington, Woelber Construction of Hull, MJ’S Concrete of
Boyden, The Foreign Candy Company, Inc. of Hull, The Hull Pharmacy and Sybesma Graphics for
their support in 2016.
